Meet Consultant Abbey Cutting

I’m Abbey Cutting, a 16-year-old angler from the North East of England, based in Sunderland. I’ve been fishing since I was around 10 years old, and over the past three years my focus has shifted heavily towards match fishing—a big change from sitting behind the rods in a bivvy chasing carp with my dad. Since making that switch, I’ve been completely hooked.

Fishing is a huge part of my life. If I’m not out on the bank, I’m watching fishing videos or preparing my gear for the next session. I especially enjoy commercial fisheries, targeting F1s, stockies, and ide, but there’s nothing better than those late-session margin bites from bigger fish.

My favourite venues: include Woodlands and Aston Park, where I’ve had some great results. I compete across both match and carp angling categories, continuing to build my experience and develop my skills.

Recently, I achieved a major milestone by qualifying for my first big competition—the Fish North Semi Final—which is something I’m incredibly proud of. I’m also fortunate to be sponsored by Nytro Fishing, a partnership I’ve held for nearly two years, helping me progress further in the sport.

I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with Hinders, using and testing their bait products. I’m confident this will help improve my catch rate and take my fishing to the next level.

Some of my personal highlights so far include multiple junior match wins, open match victories, securing sponsorship with Nytro Fishing, and qualifying for the Fish North Semi Final.
