I've managed two short sessions this last fortnight; a day session at Acorn Fishery in Bristol and a 24 hour session at my syndicate here in the Cotswolds. Both occasions the weather has been beautiful, but extremely cold, yet in between whilst I've been sat at work the thermometer has made me wince as the temperatures have increased. Luck however hasn't all been against me and regardless of the crisp, frosted ground I've picked a few up.

A lovely mid double scaly mirror was the best of a productive trip to Acorn and a 26lb 12oz Common with an enormous tail and chestnut flanks was my reward at the syndicate. Both sessions have seen me use solid bags with a small amount of bait over the top as my successful tactics. Both venues also have leader bans, but all I have done is fish a naked system utilising the line droppers along the monofilament and a semi slack line to conceal the end tackle as best as possible.
