recently travelled down to Acorn Fishery near Clevedon just south of Bristol. The lake is around 3 acres and has a great head of fish to over 30lb. It is primarily a good runs water, but as I've found out can be tricky. Casting and baiting strategy has to be top notch in order to keep the fish hitting the net mesh and by keeping active, I have amassed 7 fish on my last two overnight trips. Tactics have mainly involved solid bags or oily stick mixes with small bright baits.

Pink, orange or yellow pop ups soaked in the new Betalin and Plum have accounted for all of my fish and by pulting my preferred Pro Marine boilies over the top at regular intervals, I have managed to catch some lovely carp to just shy of 27lb. Stick and solid mixes have included Little Gemz 50/50, Ground Elips Pellet and Salmon Fry Crumb, coated in Fish Pro liquid and plenty of Elips Oil. This mix kicks off long after casting out, but I like to regularly recast in order to build a swim full of attraction with minimal food value. The lake is very unique as it has good sized wooden huts placed in 8 of the 15 or so pegs. Its fantastic for a social event with friends and can be pre booked, so come the colder months I'll definitely be returning to enjoy some social fishing.
