Name:Simon Ashton
Lives in:Durham
Occupation:Self Employed Pipe Layer
Angling Category:Specialist

Describe yourself as an angler:Started fishing at the age of 7. I
used to fish ponds with my late Uncle Roy when I was on my six weeks holidays near
Blackpool. That was my first taste of coarse fishing. When I was 14 I joined my local angling club and started winning matches against the adults and realised this angling crack was for me.

When I was able to drive I started traveling to different Counties and fishing for
specimen fish and the rest is history. In 2002 I caught the British Record Dace and Scottish
Record Bream. In 2023 I was fortunate enough to win Specimen Angler of the Year by
Angling Times.
