Name:George Cornwell

Lives in:Bournemouth, Dorset

Occupation:Police officer

Angling Category:River Angler (mainly Barbel)

Describe yourself as an angler:Barbel addicted river angler, mainly to be found wandering the Hampshire Avon or Dorset Stour. I love travelling light, either rolling meat or dropping into multiple swims for short sessions static fishing for Barbel. I just love fishing as there’s always something to target and I’m equally happy trotting a float on the Frome for grayling on a freezing cold day! In the close season I have a dabble for some Tench but I’m really counting down the days until June 16th😉

Favourite Venue:Hampshire Avon

Favourite Species: Barbel

Favourite Method/Approach: Sight fishing in crystal clear water, watching from a tree as a barbel takes the hookbait and the centrepin screams off.

Favourite Hinders Bait:Elips pellets

Most memorable session:Hampshire Avon 8lb 3oz Chub on the float in the daytime (maggots flavoured with Betalin) followed by a 14lb Barbel that evening.

Target for the next 12months:10lb Tench, 3lb Roach, 4lb Grayling, 20lb Barbel…ever the optimist!🤣
