Saturday I fished the Shearsby Valley Lakes open on the silver fish lake where my draw put me on peg 2. I decided to fish a simple match with pellet short at 5 metres with 4mm expander on hook, an 11metre line fishing Supercharged Method Mix and Super Fine Canal Groundbait with caster or maggot on hook, and finally a maggot line long at 14 metres.

I had a great start to the match starting short catching small skimmers, crucians on Hinders micro pellets with 4mm Eazy Expanders on the hook. Then Iater on I moved to my groundbait line where I caught just as well having big skimmers, Ide, gold fish and about 10 small F1s, caught mostly on caster with the odd fish on worm. I weighed in 67.12lb for 1st in the silverfish match and a new silverfish record on Sunset lake.
